Are you taking a basic pre-vet kinda thing, or anything specialized? I know you can go into a regular-vet program or a large-animal-vet program at one of our local colleges - I don't know if it's the same where you are, or in highschool? The large-animal is for horses and such, I think.

Highschool, right?
If you're going to college, try looking at some of the ones you might be interested in, get an idea of what you need in a college, what you like, and what you can't stand (if it's not the right fit, it's a million times harder to study). If you're going straight to work, try a summer job, get some experience - even if it's just burgers, employers will want to see what your past employers say about you (and you may find something you really like to do).
But you've probably already heard that.... it's true, tho. Knowing pretty much what you're going to be doing after you graduate helps make the senior year less stressful. So, if you look at it early, you're more prepared.
Don't lock yourself in, tho - I think I changed my mind on what I wanted to go to college to learn three times my senior year of highschool alone, and what I do now isn't any of the things I picked then. And I'm only two yrs out of college, so no major career changes (yet).

And of course, there are perks - no homework! (Unless you go into teaching.)
Like anything, there are ups and downs, but I bet if you add up the number of hours you spend in school you'll get something pretty close to 40, and adults get two days off a week too.

It's really not any more time than if she were working a normal schedule - it's a 40-hour wk either way - it's just the switching that's hard.
And she's never exactly been a morning person, so she's probably the best one for that sort of thing.

She has days where she only gets to sleep a couple hours, and days where she makes up for it. It's one of the occupational hazards of being part-time third shift (she's two days third, three days second) - you're not on it enough to have a regular sleeping schedule, but you're also not off it enough to have a regular sleeping schedule.
